Twilight's Nikki Reed Engaged to American Idol's Paul McDonald : "He's the One!"

Twilight's Nikki Reed Engaged:

by Marc Malkin

Looks like that Breaking Dawn wedding isn't the only prospective Twilight marriage on tap.

On the red carpet at the 2011 MTV Movie awards, Twilight star Nikki Reed flashed some serious bling when I asked her whether she thinks she and her man Paul McDonald will wed. And she had an answer ready.

"He's the one," she said. "He's the one."

A source confirms that the two are, indeed, engaged. Congratulations, you two. And guess what else she told me...

Reed says her man, who made it to the Top 8 of American Idol this season, has been writing a bunch of songs in her honor! Aww.

"He says he's going to release a Nikki Reed EP," she said.

Sweet. Though if things continue this way maybe we will have a whole album to look forward to.

After the American Idol Finale, Judas Priest Says, "James Durbin is our Hero"

A new heavy metal hero has emerged, thanks to an unlikely source: American Idol.

The reality series had never seen anyone like James Durbin before, as the 22-year old from Santa Cruz brought hard rock and heavy metal to the Idol stage for the first time.

Metal legends Judas Priest joined Durbin for the Idol finale, which was seen by 29.3 million viewers; USA Today reports that's a 21% increase over last year (24.2 million). The May 25 broadcast was also up 12% in young adults (18-to-49) compared to the Season 9 finale.

"It's just amazing, it really is," Priest vocalist Rob Halford tells FoxNews.com's "Fox 411" (see video below). "We've gotta say thank you to James and to American Idol for putting heavy metal music into 30 million American homes week after week. He's become a hero of ours."

James rocked Priest’s "You've Got Another Thing Coming" back in March, marking the first time a Priest tune was performed on the series, sending shock waves in the metal community and with the band themselves.

"We had no idea that [James] was covering this song by Priest,” said Halford. “All of us back in the U.K. and various locations around the world, our phones [were going off] with texts. 'Can you believe what's happening?' We were absolutely thrilled."

"James is epitomizing heavy metal, because it's the type of music that we've always had to fight for, really," added drummer Scott Travis. "So the fact that he got eliminated quicker than some people wanted him to, and he's still around and he's probably gonna have a long career. And it's the same sort of thing we've had to deal with."

Why Haley Reinhart's Original Song (Debut Single) was Cut from the American Idol Finale

While we loved seeing Haley Reinhart “Steppin’ Out” with Tony Bennett during the American Idol finale, we were more excited for our little pony’s first original song, which her parents promised we’d hear that night. But as we were treated with BeyoncĂ© performances, Gaga-vision, and a look back at Steven Tyler-isms, we began to wonder how Idol would fit everything in.

It turns out, two hours simply isn’t enough time for Top 13 reunion songs, judges’ hip shakings, and celeb cameos. In fact, as Haley explained to The Hollywood Reporter, it was one of the uber-famous who took over the spot that was originally given to the growly girl for her new single. “That was going to happen. And then Bono came in and it was taken away,” says Haley.

Et tu, Bono? The U2 singer, along with The Edge and Reeve Carney, brought Broadway to the Idol stage (didn’t Simon Cowell always warn against that?) when they performed “Rise Above 1” from Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. The superhero-themed musical is having myriad problems, and even J.Lo wasn’t keen on kissing the masked crusader during the finale.

Now that Haley’s original song doesn’t have the benefit of an Idol audience debut, its fate is in peril. “They had said that it was going to happen,” explains Haley, “and like everything else in this business, it’s all subject to change. I was excited about it, but then again, I think I'd like to wait and come up with something that's very me. Everything happens for a reason, so it's all good.” Way to take it in stride, Growlylocks.

American Idol finales are typically star-studded spectacles, and they always try to cram in the maximum amount of show-stopping performances, but swapping Haley’s potential hit for an established singer’s lackluster project just strikes us as bad form. What do you think? Should producers have kept or cut Haley’s original song?
