American Idol's Steven Tyler Asks "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?"

American Idol Season 10's new judge, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, releases his "unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery" "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?: A Rock 'n' Roll Memoir".

Amazon.com: Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?: A Rock 'n' Roll Memoir (9780061767890): Steven Tyler: Books

Review
“Roll ‘em: Tyler’s memoir is a wild ride. Explicit and filled with expletives, it reads like an even wilder and louder version of Keith Richards’ best-selling “Life.” Tyler, 63, settles back and tells story after story about life in the “most decadent, lecherous, sexiest, nastiest band in the land.”” (Associated Press )

“Steven Tyler is one of the giants of American music, who’s been influential for a whole generation of Rock-n-Roll fans around the world. Long May He Rock!” (Sir Paul McCartney )

“Steven Tyler is an unalloyed genius” (New York Times )

Product Description

"I've been mythicized, Mick-icized, eulogized and fooligized, I've been Cole-Portered and farmer's-daughtered, I've been Led Zepped and 12-stepped. I'm a rhyming fool and so cool that me, Fritz the Cat, and Mohair Sam are the baddest cats that am. I have so many outrageous stories, too many, and I'm gonna tell 'em all. All the unexpurgated, brain-jangling tales of debauchery, sex & drugs, transcendence & chemical dependence you will ever want to hear."

The son of a classical pianist straight out of the Bronx of old Archie comics, Steven Tyler was born to be a rock star. Weaned on Cole Porter, Nat King Cole, Mick — and his beloved Janis Joplin — Tyler began tearing up the streets and the stage as a teenager before finally meeting his "mutant twin" and legendary partner Joe Perry. In this addictively readable memoir, told in the playful, poetic voice that is uniquely his own, Tyler unabashedly recounts the meteoric rise, fall, and rise of Aerosmith over the last three decades and riffs on the music that gives it all meaning.

Tyler tells what it's like to be a living legend and the frontman of one of the world's most revered and infamous bands—the debauchery, the money, the notoriety, the fights, the motels and hotels, the elevators, limos, buses and jets, the rehab. He reveals the spiritual side that "gets lost behind the stereotype of the Sex Guy, the Drug Guy, the Demon of Screamin', the Terror of the Tropicana." And he talks about his epic romantic life and his relationship with his four children. As dazzling, bold, and out-on-the-edge as the man himself, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You? is an all-access backstage pass into this extraordinary showman's life.

American Idol's Haley Reinhart Sings Lady Gaga's “You and I” on the Top 5 Show

Haley Reinhart, American Idol Season 10's sexy, sassy ingenue, performs “You and I”, an unreleased song by Lady Gaga, for her first song on the Top 5 'Now~and~Then' Show. Haley gets a sit-down with host Ryan Seacrest where she explains, "Jimmy Iovine came to me, and he was really excited about this song. He said, "This isn't released yet, she does it at her concert. It's an amazing song. I think you would do a good take on it." Especially if I could get her blessing on it, speak to her and see if it's all right...I got to speak to Lady Gaga, and she was excited as well." Multiple Grammy Award winner Sheryl Crow helped the Idol finalist during rehearsals, as this week's celebrity mentor. Sheryl said, "I think Haley doing Lady Gaga, a song that isn't even released yet, is a super bold choice. I think she's definitely going to have a moment with this song." "She's got it," says Jimmy, "and taking on this song is just another way to show she's got it."

Haley looks fantastic, starting the song posed on the stairs. And she sounds great! With her huge vocals, growls and raspy voice, this song is the perfect choice for her. This is one of Haley's best performances, and a song like this really showcases the direction Haley should take as a recording artist after Idol. The audience is totally eating it up, though the judges don't look too thrilled. Jennifer Lopez criticized, "I love the way you sounded, especially at the end. You had some good moments within the song. I’m just not sure it was a cool idea to do an unreleased Lady Gaga track. I'm just not sure that was the best advice Jimmy gave you. At this point in the competition, when you have Scotty and James comin' out, doin' what they're doin'. I mean you just have to showcase yourself to the best you can every time, with songs that people are really going to connect to and love. And I just want you to do that because, again, you have such a great voice that I want you to come out and have that great moment every single time. And you've given us that before, so I know you can, with some really, really great songs. For me, it would have been a better choice to choose something everybody knew, that really showcased you in a better way. I'm sorry, baby." Randy Jackson added, "I’m not sure it’s that great of a song, and I'm sure you could have thought of other songs. I always think about you more in the Joss Stone way. It’s so risky to come out with a song no one's familiar with. You're a great singer, you proved it at the end of that. I don’t know if this whole thing did you any favors. The good thing about tonight is that you have a second song later." Steven Tyler, who obviously heard the same performance I did, (as I have no clue why JLo and Randy dissed Haley so hard...) praised, "I think you put all of Haley...your range...in it. I loved it. I don't know the song. When someone can take a song they don't know and make it work, that's a beautiful thing. Hard thing, risky thing to do here. But I love what you do. I think you're just one perfect song away from being the American Idol."

American Idol's Scotty McCreery Sings “Gone” on the Top 5 Show

Scotty McCreery, American Idol Season 10's 'Country Cutie' sings “Gone” by Montgomery Gentry as his first song on the Top 5 'Now~and~Then' Show. The nine Grammy Award winner Sheryl Crow sat in as celebrity mentor, and sang back-up for Scotty during rehearsals. "I think this is the right song for Scotty. It's got a lot of grit to it, a real Rock feel to it," said Producer Jimmy Iovine, adding, "I think the song Scotty takes on tonight...the combination of angst, lyrics, intensity of the vocal...I think people are going to get really moved tonight." Sheryl Crow, who's known to incorporate elements of Rock, Folk, Hip Hop, Country and Pop into her music, said, "I don't think we've really seen him do this yet. It's got a huge range. I think people are going to be on their feet." She told Scotty, "I think you've got a great career ahead of you." Wow! What an amazing endorsement for a 16 year old kid to get from Sheryl Crow!

Scotty takes over the Idol stage likes it's his own headlining stadium concert! He works the whole stage, the whole audience...really takes command, and makes you sit up and listen! His crazy confidence and swagger are a joy to watch (though the googly-eyes are becoming a bit much!) His vocals are solid, if a little drowned out by the back-up singers and the music. The crowd and the three judges go absolutely wild for Scotty's performance...so much so that Steven Tyler can't even start his critique. Steven, always one for a colorful turn of phrase, said, "Up til now you’ve been like a puritan. But I swear to God, I saw you dance with the devil tonight. And that's a good thing for you. That was really beautiful. That showed a whole 'nother side of you." JLo, so thrilled she can hardly speak, said, "I, wha...lost it there for a second, I was so excited. (hahahaha) You just owned that stage. I heard some growling in there too. I liked it. That is some American Idol stuff right there. That's it, Baby. Really great." Randy Jackson added, "I felt like we were sitting at 'Concert Scotty'. Who knew you could rock the stage like that? If you can do it, it don’t matter what age you are. THIS GUY’S IN IT TO WIN IT TOO!"

American Idol's Lauren Alaina Sings “Flat on the Floor” on the Top 5 Show

Lauren Alaina, American Idol Season 10's sweet (and funny) Georgia Peach, sings “Flat on the Floor” by Carrie Underwood as her first song on the Top 5 'Now~and~Then' Show. Sheryl Crow sat in as guest celebrity mentor. "One of the things I think would be really helpful for Lauren, is to stay put. To bring the audience to her," says Sheryl, who wants Lauren to "stand in a very strong position and sing." "I'm proud of Lauren. She's taken all the constructive criticism in, and she's used it as fuel. And she's coming to fight tonight," says Producer Jimmy Iovine.

Lauren hits the stage...looking great! She's really maturing as an artist (her singing), and as a performer (her 'look', her confidence, and her command of the stage and her movements.) She's right, this is a very hard song to sing. And she pulls it off ~ brilliantly! One of Lauren's best performances to date. Spunky, sassy. Lauren shows off her big, huge vocals, with just a slight Country twang. Lauren's great commercially, because she's not pigeon-holed into just one genre. Her songs will show up on the Country charts, the Pop charts...all the charts! The audience and judges really go crazy for Lauren! Randy Jackson praised, "That is the direction for you. This direction I agree with 100%. The great Carrie Underwood. I love you showing this fun side, energetic side. You're singing, still connecting with the audience. I thought it was amazing. Lauren is in it, Y'all." Steven Tyler, a huge Lauren fan, said, "Lauren, the way you sing, the way you found your niche is simply as good as it gets. For a 15 year old girl, and you sing like that, and you know where you’re going...sky's the limit. I think you're 'It'." Jennifer Lopez raved, "That's what I like to see, what we've been pushing for from you. You ate that up. I saw you. You want it. We're looking to see who's going to rise to the top. That's what you have to do. Just like that. Every time."

American Idol's James Durbin Sings “Closer to the Edge” on the Top 5 Show

James Durbin, American Idol Season 10's Heavy Metal Rocker (turned Rocker-Lite tonight), performed “Closer to the Edge” by 30 Seconds to Mars as his first song on the Top 5 'Now~and~Then' Show. Sheryl Crow sat in as guest celebrity mentor, and sang along with James in rehearsals. "You fit in this material better than you fit in 1980's Rock," says Producer Jimmy Iovine. "What I heard James do on this 30 Seconds to Mars song is really promising for his future."

James takes the stage like it's his own arena show, rather than an American Idol telecast, again. He sounds great on the chorus, getting in a few of his screams, but is a little pitchy on the verses. Just when James was starting to make a Metal fan out of me, he pulls out something very boring like this. I hope this isn't the direction he's going to head in when he records his own album after the show. We have enough cookie-cutter, vanilla-white Idols boys putting out the same sounding stuff. The crowd and all three judges really seemed to enjoy it. Steven Tyler raved, "James man, I think you kicked that songs ass. Nice goin', Man. Beautiful. The way you worked the audience, you’re ready for Freddy. (Weird thing for Steven to say. "Ready for Freddy" means you're ready for the undertaker...) Jennifer Lopez broke in to say, "You're ready for stadiums. We talked about who's going to come out here and grab it, who's going to take it. And the past few weeks, you’ve been showing us that you want it. Grab it. Take it. It’s yours to take, James." Randy Jackson said, "30 Seconds to Mars, is a great contemporary Rock song. I think you fit well there. Now you're showing us where you could go as an artist, and the type of record you could make, so it doesn't date you just in an older Rock category. JAMES IS IN IT TO WIN IT, AMERICA! THIS GUY RIGHT HERE WANTS IT! HE WANTS IT, RYAN!

Just Released!! Jennifer Lopez's New Album "LOVE?" plus VIDEO!!

American Idol Season 10's sexy Jennifer Lopez releases her new album LOVE?

Jennifer Lopez's new video "On the Floor", featuring Pitbull.

Love? is the seventh studio album by American recording artist and actress Jennifer Lopez. Conceived during the pregnancy of her twins Emme and Max, Love? is Lopez's most personal album to date, taking inspiration from the birth of her twins and her own experiences with love. Recording for the album began in 2009, with an original release date for the project set for January 2010 to coincide with Lopez's latest film The Back-up Plan. However following the lack of success with lead single "Louboutins", Lopez and Sony Music Entertainment decided to end their ten year partnership leaving the fate of Love? in uncertainty. In 2010, Lopez signed a new record deal with Island Def Jam, which saw the release of Love? on May 3, 2011.

The album includes a mixture of previously recorded material, along with new songs with Tricky Stewart, The-Dream and RedOne commissioned by Island Records. The album combines R&B, pop music and hip hop songs for a mixture of club-ready singles as well as slower mid-tempo songs. Lopez refers to Love? as containing her best vocals to date. The album's first single under Island Records is "On the Floor" and features Pitbull. It is the first song from Love? to garner Canadian and US airplay and has impacted on charts around the world. Released from February 11, 2011, it reached the top five in most countries, including reaching number one in fifteen countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and much of continental Europe. It is Lopez's most successful single in eight years, peaking at number five in the United States.

American Idol's Stefano Langone Performs “Closer”

American Idol Season 10's Stefano Langone performs “Closer” by Ne-Yo. The theme for the Top 7 Week was "Songs of the 21st Century". Producer Jimmy Iovine gets down on Stefano during rehearsal, saying, "It's not whining. It's not begging. It's sexy. Sexy comes with a certain amount of confidence. He can move, what's he doing stalking the stage pleading?"

So, what do the other contestants think of Stefano? "Stefano tries to be a ladies man. Hard core," says Lauren Alaina. "There's just something about a women," says Stefano, "It's the fruit of life." They all tease Stefano about what a big flirt he is.

Stefano takes the stage with confidence. He struts a bit. His vocals are very strong, especially the first chorus. Then it all fell off for me. When Stefano started to move around the stage, with his pants way too tight across the thighs, I felt like I was watching people dancing in a Richard Simmons or Jane Fonda workout video. Flashback to the workout scenes in Rocky...It was all just a little too distracting. Randy Jackson said, "Dude you turned me around. You did a very good job, you smoothed it out. And what I love that you did, you took your time singing the verses. We know you have the power and are going to slay it at the end with all your big huge notes. I was really proud of you. You kinda worked the dance steps out a little bit." Steven Tyler raved, "Nobody can say you weren't all up in it. I hoped you would dance and you did. Good job. Really good." Jlo added, "Speaking for the girls in the audience, I thought it was very, very good. You really had your swag going on. I really liked it. It felt like a concert. It felt good, like a performance. You owned the song. Really good job."

American Idol Exit Interview: Casey Abrams Says Goodbye

American Idol Exit Interview: Casey Abrams Says Goodbye - The Hollywood Gossip

Humble until the end, Casey Abrams recently spoke on his elimination from American Idol.

The bearded crooner told MTV he had a feeling his name would be called on Thursday night. Not because he did poorly, but because he was so impressed by his competitors.

My performance was pretty good," he said. "But seeing Jacob kill it and then seeing Haley kill it, seeing Scotty and Lauren kill it and Durbin obviously... it just made me feel like, 'These guys are incredible. These guys could carry the show. I don't really need to be here, so if I go home tomorrow, I'm prepared.'"

On a personal note, Casey's goodbye to contestant Haley Reinhart - which included a kiss - forced him to clear up all rumors about the two dating. He just refers to her as his "special music friend."

"I was completely on random mode. I didn't plan on ending up on Haley; it just happened that way. Nothing was planned," he said of his hug and kiss-filled farewell on stage.

Does the talented singer (he plays cello, bass, drums and clarinet) have any parting words of advice?

"Don't take yourself too seriously. Take music seriously, but not yourself."

American Idol's Lauren Alaina Performs "Born to Fly"

American Idol Season 10's Lauren Alaina sings Sara Evans' "Born to Fly". The theme for the Top 7 Week was "Songs of the 21st Century". Last week, Producer Jimmy Iovine told Lauren, "You're a much, much stronger singer than Miley Cyrus," to motivate her. "There are times when Lauren goes on stage and she pulls back. It's her fear of failing, I believe." With "Born to Fly", Lauren thinks she "can take it to the next level, if I just believe." "If she gets over that hurdle, and risks it, she can win this whole thing," says Jimmy. "She's that magical a singer."

So, what do the other Idols think of Lauren Alaina? She thinks they'll make fun of the way she talks...and she's right! They also tease Lauren about how much she talks.

Lauren takes the stage, looking very cute and age-appropriate, doing her unique little step-march. Lauren sounds great, like always. But, this song does not let her shine. It is very safe, and doesn't allow her show off her huge vocals. Not what I thought she would pick to sing this late in the competition. Steven Tyler, a huge Lauren fan since auditions, praised, "I heard you say on that trailer that you didn't know what you're doin' sometimes. Anyone who doesn't know they can fail is bound to win. You’re so good naturally, and you have such a great swagger. I'd love you to sing some more Allison Krause, a little Faith Hill, Shania Twain. Beautiful." Jlo raved, "You do have such a special voice. It's not everybody that has so much color in their voice, where these beautiful little things come out in the middle of notes. Just so much character. You said "Everybody's out here singing these big notes." Why don't you do that? Try it. You can do that. Just let it out." Randy Jackson added, "You can sing anything. You think you can't sing those big notes, you sang that little Mariah (Carey) run at the end of the Sara Evans song. Every now and then, glimpses come out. You must believe. I don't even think she knows how good she is. Challenge yourself Lauren."

American Idol's James Durbin and Jacob Lusk Sing “I’m into Something Good”

What an interesting team to pair up for a duet! American Idol Season 10's Rocker God and Gospel King ~ James Durbin and Jacob Lusk ~ perform Carole King's “I’m into Something Good.” The boys found it hilarious that they would be paired up to sing a duet. "We're gonna take it to church. Can I get an Amen," joked the boys, obviously great friends.

James and Jacob figured, 'If we have to do a duet together, we're gonna have fun with it.' They really hammed it up. It was like an old Jerry Lewis and Dino skit.

Jacob and James left the stage and headed over to Jennifer Lopez at the judges table to serenade her ~ and 'fight' over her. Both boys hit some big, huge, crazy notes at the end. Steven Tyler said, "You guys were having fun. God know you can both sing great. Man, where were you going with all that?"
