Thia Megia Turns On a "Heat Wave" on the American Idol Top 11 Show

American Idol Season 10's reigning beauty Thia Megia performs "Heat Wave" by Martha and The Vandellas. The theme for the Top 11 Show was 'Songs of Motown', and Thia sees it "as a time to showcase the up-tempo side of me." "Heatwave" was a huge dance hit in 1963, exemplifying the 'Motown Sound'.

Thia had the audience on it's feet, swaying to the music, and Thia moved around a bit more than normal. Over the past few weeks, the Idol judges have been a bit hard on Thia, wanting her to break out of her ballad-y mode. Randy Jackson even told Thia he was getting bored. This week, she broke out of her comfort zone! Jennifer Lopez said, "I feel like we’re scratching the surface a little bit. It was great to see you let loose. Who knew you had that in you? I didn't. Now I need you to dig even deeper each week. Part of performing is acting. Always make sure you connect to your lyrics." Randy added, "The reason you're here is cuz we knew you had it in you. It’s about taking chances. You took a chance tonight, you didn't sing a really safe ballad. You can take more vocal chances, but you can really sing. I'm happy to see you move up a notch with something different. Push, push, push!" Steven Tyler had words of love for Thia again. "You’ve taken a step out. I love it. Just great."
